Charlie began his career with the Sentinel Star as Company comptroller on July 15, 1957 when Martin Andersen hired the promising CPA away from Arthur Young & Co., in Toledo. Six years later, Charlie had proved himself as business manager, and at the end of 1963 was named vice president. In 1976, CTB was named president/CEO, reaching the top after nearly 20 years with the company.

As Charlie grew with the company, so did his reputation as a strict fiscal manager, a leader who could find excess and bring it to the line. For instance, was air conditioning really necessary in the 1978 Florida summer season?
This photo demonstrated:
a.) a reaction to his 78 degree air conditioning edict
b.) Charlie's approach to casual day
c.) that Charlie did his part to alleviate the great elastic shortage in the 70's.
Nothing says "Happy Retirement" like a handshake and a smoke. "Charlie used to be quite fond of those cigars, but he has since given them up," says Mary.
