Culver Academy

former classmate, George Steinbrenner
Charlie was a solid student and excelled in Culver's military system. He was a member of the 1945-46 regimential staff as personnel officer. Undoubtedly, this was his first major managerial experience as it put him directly in charge of 850 cadets at a time when the Culver Corps was perhaps at its sharpest, immediately following World War II.

Charlie gained significant recognition on the Rifle and Skeet ranges where he left his mark as one of the finest schoolboy sharpshooters in the Midwest.
