Charlie served in several leadership roles at the Newspaper Association of America, culminating in a one-year term as chairman beginning in April 1994. He currently is chairman of the Northwestern Healthcare Network and a director of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert McCormick Tribune Foundation. He is a trustee of Northwestern University, the Orchestral Association, the Chicago Historical Society, the Culver Educational Foundation and is a member of the Madison Council of the Library of Congress.
