Marriage and Family

As far as twin sister Ellen knows, nothing sparked the first time Charlie met her high school roommate on a trip home in 1944. Charlie said he'd call, and sure enough, a year or so later at college, he did. "From then on, it was Charlie and Mary," says Ellen. "They married on July 7, 1951, and she's been a great wife and a wonderful mother to their four children."
